While in the USA, your insurance plan includes access to Teladoc Mental Health Care, supporting you in your time of need. Teladoc Mental Health Care is a virtual and telephonic counseling service focused on providing safe, secure, and private means of seeking mental health assistance from licensed counselors.

Please note — there may be some circumstances where Teladoc Mental Health Care will treat a condition that your insurance plan does not cover. If you are given a referral for an ineligible injury or illness, these costs will not be covered under your insurance plan when you submit a claim. Please review your policy certificate, in the MyDocuments section of your Student Zone, for your full plan benefits and exclusions.

  • Why am I having trouble registering for Teladoc Mental Health Care?

    There could be a few reasons why you cannot register for the Teladoc service. The most common reasons include:
    • Your program has not started — You will not be able to register for the Teladoc service until after your insurance plan has started. If you aren’t sure when your plan starts, check your insurance ID card to confirm your plan's effective date, or ask your sponsoring organization.
    • You entered your name incorrectly — You will not be able to set up your account unless you enter your name correctly when registering. If you have multiple first names, you will need to make sure to only enter the first part of your first name. If you have multiple last names, you will need to enter your full last name as it appears on your insurance record.
    • You entered the wrong zip code — You will only be able to register for an account if you use the zip code listed in the PDF document that accompanies your ID card. The zip code that you need to use is the insurance company’s zip code — 46225. You will be able to add your mailing address to your account once you’ve successfully registered.
    • You’re not in the United States — Teladoc is only available for US programs. If your program does not include the United States, you cannot register for the service. You will need to be located in the United States to access the Teladoc website and register for your account.

  • What conditions can Teladoc Mental Health Care help with?

    Teladoc’s mental health professionals are trained to aid in anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), stress, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), grief, work pressures, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and more.
  • How do I use Teladoc Mental Health Care?

    Once you’ve registered for your Teladoc account, start by filling out a brief medical history and your current concerns. You will be able to review each provider profile based on your specific needs and preferences, and will then provide 3 appointment days and times that work best with your schedule. From there, your chosen counselor will connect with you at your preferred date and time through the Teladoc Health app, website, or phone.
  • How much does a Teladoc Mental Health Care visit cost?

    The cost of Teladoc will depend on your plan, so be sure to check your policy wording to confirm any costs associated with using this service. Depending on your plan, there may be a small co-pay you are responsible for paying when using these services.
  • Can I get a prescription through Teladoc Mental Health Care?

    No, your plan only includes visits with a Teladoc Mental Health Counselor, and they cannot write prescriptions.
  • Can Teladoc Mental Health Care help with emergency crisis situations?

    If you are in a crisis situation, please call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-8255 for help. If a member calls Teladoc Mental Health Care during a crisis situation, their mental health professionals will stay on the line and transfer the member to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline for further help.
